1. Introduction
At Tanir Credit & Accounting Services Limited, we are committed to responsible lending practices and full compliance with Kenyan financial regulations. In line with the Credit Reference Bureau Regulations (2020) and the Data Protection Act (2019), we are authorized to share customer credit information with licensed Credit Reference Bureaus (CRBs) in Kenya.
The sharing of credit information promotes transparency within the financial sector and supports a sound and accountable credit market.
2. Information We Share
The information that may be provided to CRBs includes:
- Loan applications and their outcomes
- Loan repayment history (on-time payments, late payments, or defaults)
- Current outstanding balances
- Records of full repayment and loan settlement
- Details of loan restructuring, write-offs, or legal recovery actions
Note: Both positive and negative credit information may be reported, and this can influence your future access to credit.
3. Purpose of Information Sharing
We share credit data in order to:
- Promote responsible borrowing and lending practices
- Enable customers to build or strengthen their credit history
- Comply with obligations set out by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and POCAMLA
- Enhance the stability and integrity of the wider financial system
4. Authorized CRBs
Your credit information may be shared with any of the following CBK-licensed bureaus:
- Metropol Credit Reference Bureau
- TransUnion CRB Kenya
- CreditInfo CRB Kenya
5. Customer Rights
As our customer, you are entitled to:
- Receive one free credit report every year from any licensed CRB
- Be informed in advance before any negative information is reported (Regulation 18)
- Dispute any incorrect information within 14 days of receiving a notice
- Have disputes investigated and resolved within 30 days, in line with CBK guidelines

6. Consent
By applying for or accepting a loan from Tanir Credit & Accounting Services Limited, you consent to the reporting of your credit information to licensed CRBs. This consent is obtained in accordance with Section 31 of the Credit Reference Bureau Regulations (2020) and remains valid until all your obligations are fully discharged.
Additionally, all KYC and transaction records are securely retained for at least 7 years after the end of the relationship or transaction, as required under POCAMLA Section 45, and can be retrieved for audit or investigation purposes.
7. Data Protection
We guarantee that all credit information shared with CRBs will always be:
- Accurate, complete, and regularly updated
- Securely transmitted and stored
- Processed in compliance with our Privacy Policy and the Data Protection Act (2019)
8. Review
This policy is reviewed annually and updated whenever there are changes in regulatory requirements from CBK or ODPC. The latest version is always available on our website.
